As we hold our vigil for Theresa Kok and RPK, let's also please not forget the Hindraf 5 and the rest of the detainees still under ISA. They too were not wrong, they too can be charged in court, and they too are fellow Malaysians who fought for a change of government. Yes, they were more radical, but they made a huge difference to all our concerted efforts by being precisely that.

Let's not forget them merely because they don't belong to any party. They were the bravest amongst us all for they were the downtrodden minority who have no monetary backing, no political support and yet they came out blazing a trail of unprecedented courage and resilience.

They are our brothers and they deserve our solidarity. We Malaysians must speak out for all races, regardless of political background, religion or race. When one is wronged, one is wronged. I believe a time will come when we may choose to renounce our race and see us as Malaysians, like the way the Indonesians and Filipinos have done.

But till then, let's build our country together step by step.

First by throwing out this corrupt, morally bankrupt and utterly unscrupulous Barisan National-led government. Not a single person in BN has any credibility left, and will never have, as long as they remain in BN.

Secondly, let's give the Pakatan Rakyat-ed government a chance and time to do it right. It will not be easy to undo the years of damage and rebuild a ravaged judiciary and government mechanisms, but we need to be patient.

The easiest thing in the world would be to criticise, but most critics never give viable solutions either. The rebirth of a new Malaysia would be like the proverbial phoenix rising from the ashes - a lot of burns that only time, and an efficient government can heal.

Thirdly, we must remain united and try to love one another. You cannot love your country if you cannot love the people in it who make the country what she is. The Malays must understand that 'sensitivity' is not a word that belongs to them only. The other races in the country work hard to respect Malay rights so it’s only right that the Malays return the favour. In today’s modern, progressive and tolerant Malaysia, this is not a tall order at all.

Ahmad Ismail is a product of these subtle little lacks of sensitivity to non-Malays. But are the non-Malays defeated ? No, they are doing fairly well because what doesn't kill you , only makes you stronger. And the non-Malays, knowing that this is all we have, focus on working as hard as we can to move forward.

We don't get any perks or privileges, but in spite of all that, we are not defeated. I suppose that really is the spirit of Malaysia Boleh. So NEP or New Economic Agenda or whatever, the spirit to survive has been instilled through many years of bringing out the best in us.

And I can safely say, having lived all my life like this, I harbour no resentment to my Malay friends and no one non-Malay I know feels differently. We like each other's company. Because it is not them, but BN that has created this lack of sensitivity.

And this is what tortures BN the most - the fact that we know this. For without race to separate us, they cannot rule and use their stupidly wicked ways to subjugate us.

So we will win this battle of good over evil, my friends. As sure as the sun will rise, we will throw this horrendously inept BN, their ISA, their lies, slander and best of all, the bumbling idiots in them out and herald the dawn of a new Malaysia. We will witness the phoenix returning to glory in her full majestic form. It may take more time than Sept 16 but it will happen.

Do not doubt that.
