The Permatang Pauh by-election was a real test to gauge the popularity of the ideology of Pakatan Rakyat and Umno in a 70 % Malay – Muslim area . The Malays and the other minority races have spoken loud and clear that the ideology of Umno of supremacy of the Malay race ie, Ketuanan Melayu, is no longer acceptable or appreciated by the younger generation of Malays who feel proud and bold to meet competition amongst all races on equal footing and become champions.

The young Malay youth are today very bright like others and want fair competition and meritocracy. This is what Pakatan stood for ie, Keutamaan Rakyat . The majority of Malays and others proved that there has been total abuse of the ideology of Ketuanan Melayu in that only the top echelon of Umnoputras benefitted.

Admittedly, the campaign theme of The Malay Agenda by Umno for this by-election was a disaster as it antagonised not only the young Malays but all the non-Malays also. How did the other partners in BN ie, MCA, Gerakan, MIC and the others agree to this theme thereby allowing for their own disasters and derogation?

The second folly BN committed in this by-election was the overplay of the fabricated sodomy charge against Anwar. Will people, however stupid they may be, believe a very intelligent man of a grandfather’s age going around committing sodomy at intervals of every 10 years.

The makcik (grandmothers) in the kampung know that a grandfather cannot definitely do this act. This fabrication they know was well-planned and planted by the vested interest of Umno leaders.

Shamefully, they exploited their esteemed religion Islam to commit swearing upon God which seems to be a controversy amongst the learned ulama and ustaz. We understand now that such swearing can take place only once judgment is delivered by the courts.

Finally, in heartily congratulating Anwar, may we remind him that the ideology and plans of Pakatan be speedily implemented once Pakatan forms the federal government. This so that the neglected Malays, Chinese, Indians and others can come out their rut of burden and poverty.

Most importantly, Anwar and other senior leaders in PR should weed out all racial and religious fanatics from within their parties even if they are existing MPs and assembly person if they don’t reform.

Abolish all the anti-humanity laws like ISA, OSA etc. And release the five ISA Hindraf detainees forthwith.
