I am heartened by the majority of Muslims in Malaysia who opposes the terrorist activities of Osama bin Laden and the Taliban despite the call for Jihad by zealots like those in the PAS leadership.

It shows how much more enlightened Muslims brothers in Malaysia have become compared with other Muslims countries. The few protest and vocal statements may be dramatic but they are definitely the minority. Anwar Ibrahim's article in the Time magazine definitely reflects the aspiration of the majority of Muslims in Malaysia rather than that of PAS.

The US must succeed in Afghanistan even at the expense of a some "collateral damage". To fail will only embolden the many terrorists out there who are working on even bolder and insane acts. It does no one any good.

So what if the US is unable to publicly reveal the full extent of Osama's and Al-Qaeda's guilt? The line must be drawn regarding the Sept 11 incidents and the world must send a message that such acts are unacceptable.

So what if the US policy on the Middle-East is imperfect and the CIA is guilty of many mistakes? The US policy cannot be used as an excuse for even more inane means. On the contrary, it must be made clear that the imperfect policy must be an incentive for nations to even raise their standards of conduct and policy higher, be it Israel or the Arab world. It must be made clear that sinking lower than your enemy is not acceptable. Like Anwar Ibrahim's article, we must rise above it.

In some ways Muslims brothers, like Anwar Ibrahim, are so enlightened, it make me proud. Unfortunately, they do not receive more vocal and active support in the media. Instead they are overshadowed by the dramatic tactics of the PAS leadership.
