The DAP disciplinary committee is too busy to decide the fate of its renegade leader Goh Kheng Huat who defied a party directive and joined Keadilans campaign during the Indera Kayangan by-election in Perlis last month.

We have so many other things to do, disciplinary committee chairperson Chong Eng told malaysiakini today.

She said those on her committee were busy with their respective responsibilities.

Although admitting that no date has been fixed for the committee to meet on this matter, Chong denied that they were dragging their feet.

Wed (still) have do it eventually, she said, refusing to comment further.

Upon his return from Perlis, DAPs disciplinary committee slapped Goh — who is the member of Parliament for Nibong Tebal, Penang — with a show-cause letter for his defiance.

Committee challenged

Goh told The Star recently that in his written reply sent three days before the Chinese New Year, he had challenged the disciplinary committee to haul up DAP national chairperson Lim Kit Siang and his deputy Karpal Singh, too, for allegedly helping Keadilan in the by-election.

Lim had supported Keadilan although he did not go to Indera Kayanagan, Goh said, when he urged the party to take legal action against Barisan Nasional over a television clip which likened PAS to the Taliban in Afghanistan, aired during the by-election period.

On Karpal, he said the deputy party chief was guilty when he urged Indian voters to support Keadilan in the by-election.

I should not be made the scapegoat when everyone else in the party had spoken their piece, Goh was reported to have said.

DAP decided not to join the campaign for the Jan 19 by-election, saying since it withdrew from the opposition Barisan Alternatif there was no need for it to be involved.

The party then barred its members from going to Perlis for the campaign.
