The IMalaysia concept of Premier Najib Abdul Razak which  previously gave birth to twins in state administration and policy matter has now turned to religion with the word 'Allah' prohibited from usage by Christians in Peninsular Malaysia, but not in Sabah and Sarawak.

Yesterday, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nazri Aziz had been reported as saying that Christians in Sabah and Sarawak can use the word 'Allah' as it has been part of their tradition for decades.

However, the catch is that they should not use it when they are in Peninsular Malaysia to respect the religious feeling of Muslims there as Allah has always been Islam's God.

NONE Commenting on this, DAP parliamentary leader and Ipoh Timor MP Lim Kit Siang ( left ) said "It is astonishing. With Najib's 1Malaysian concept we seem to have two versions (to the usage) of Allah."

He said the BN leaders must stop giving contradicting statements on the word and reach a common stand on the issue as the various versions are sowing confusion among the people.

Lim said that deputy premier Muhyiddin Yassin had on the other hand issued a statement in London that he would not allow the word 'Allah' to be used by non-Muslims.

He added that Nazri's statement with the two versions of the word 'Allah' will only confuse the people further and not practical to implement.

Eloquent silence from BN components

The Ipoh Timor MP is puzzled over why the other component parties of the BN such as MCA, Gerakan, MIC and PPP are keeping mum on this matter, and the public should know where they stand on this issue.

In an unrelated matter, Lim took a swipe at the police, especially Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar for trying to play politics instead of reducing the high crime rate in the country.

He said that his son and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng had already given his statement to the police on the allegedly seditious remarks he made at the Pakatan Rakyat convention last December.

The veteran politician wants a public apology from Khalid over his remark that Guan Eng can be arrested if he does not cooperate with the police on the matter.

Lim also wants the Home Ministry to advise police heads in the country not to indulge in politics for political mileage but instead concentrate on carrying out their duties in a professional manner.
