Zaid Ibrahim may not be called to the disciplinary board, said PKR vice-president Syed Husin Ali.

Syed Husin however declined to elaborate further, saying that the board will meet tonight to discuss the matter.

NONE Zaid (left ) was among the four PKR members including Tan Tee Beng (Nibong Tebal MP) and Zulkifli Noordin (Bandar Baru Kulim MP, who have been called to face the board for various reasons.

While Bayan Baru MP Zahrain Hashim resigned from the party this morning, Zaid was to face the board for calling for the sacking of controversial MP Zulkifli.

Syed Husin commented that the decision will most likely be announced on Feb 18, after the board has had a chance to hear from the members.

Procedures in place

He said the board will come to decision whether or not the members attend their hearings.

“They have a chance to be heard and it’s up to them to use it,” he said.

He added the board will take also into account Zulkifli’s comments after his gag order which was imposed on Jan 26, before making their decision.

Zulkifli came under fire when he lodged a police report against opposition ally and PAS MP Khalid Samad over the latter’s statement pertaining to the ‘Allah’ issue.

“He cannot go around attacking the leadership,” Syed Husin said.

Tan Tee Beng will face the board because of his harsh criticism of DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng. Tan had also backed Zahrain, who called the Penang chief minister “chauvinistic, arrogant and communistic”.

In response, Syed Husin ruffled Tan’s feathers by telling Malaysiakini that the latter can leave the party anytime.
