English newspapers

The Star and New Straits Times headlined Prime Minister Najib Razak’s announcement of plans to increase the salaries of doctors, dentists and pharmacists in the public sector, and expediting their promotions. A similar plan is being studied for top teaching staff in higher learning institutions.

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia led with the prime minister announcing a review of service schemes in public institutes of higher learning and teaching institutes whereby lecturers can be promoted to professors without having to hold any administrative posts.

Berita Harian also front paged Najib announcing plans to review and improve service schemes for medical practitioners and academicians.

Tamil Newspapers

All three Tamil newspapers ( Tamil Nesan , Malaysia Nanban and Makkal Osai ) led with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak saying that local council elections are unnecessary.

Editorial

New Straits Times called on the forestry department to improve its integrity and take immediate action against illegal logging rather than waiting for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Comission to act.

Utusan Malaysia said not  bother with the opposition requesting for  by- elections as it would cost a lot of money.

Berita Harian said corporate social responsibility programmes should be given greater weight and could help the growth and development of the community.

Tamil Nesan opined that MCA's internal crisis must not create a problem for BNl.

Malaysia Nanban said that members of the public should understand the New Economic Model.
