A strong earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit New Ireland Region, Papua New Guinea at 10pm yesterday.
A strong earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit New Ireland Region, Papua New Guinea at 10pm yesterday.
The Malaysian Meteorology department in a statement said that the earthquake ccurred at East New Ireland region, 882km northwest of Port Moresby and 3,878km southeast of Kunak, Sabah.
It said the quake coordinates were at 3.3 south and 152.2 East.
The earthquake did not pose any tsunami threat, it added.
