As Hulu Selangor by-elections draws closer, both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat have entered a tug-of-war of sorts over control of community halls.

NONE Pakatan drew first blood today when Hulu Selangor municipal council enforcement team took down campaign banners and flags an 'illegal' MCA operation centre in Bukit Changdang new village.

Selangor DAP secretary Lau Weng San told a press conference earlier that MCA was abusing the building, which belonged to the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK), which belonged to the state government.

"MCA has brazenly draped their logos and flags on the village committee sign. This is an attempt to provoke the authority of the Selangor state government,"

Municipal officers claimed that they were acting upon complaints from residents. Three police personnel were present when they took action.

A Hulu Selangor councillor told Malaysiakini that they were eight other cases of BN component parties occupying community halls.

NONE Meanwhile, Kuala Kubu Baru MCA division chief Wong Koon Mun insisted that the community hall in question belonged to MCA.

Wong, who is Kuala Kubu Baru state assemblyperson, criticised the Pakatan state government of "robbery" and their actions would bring them disrepute among the locals.

"Pakatan is the state government now. They have a lot of other places which they can use. Why do they have to grab MCA property?" he said when contacted.
