A man suspected of making a death threat against Kelantan Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat through the social networking tool, Facebook, has been arrested.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman said the suspect, in his 20's, was arrested by a police team in Butterworth, Penang at about 9pm yesterday.

However, further investigation would be conducted to ascertain whether the suspect had a Facebook account and to identify the individual actually responsible for issuing the death threat, he added when contacted by Bernama.

Last Saturday, PAS Youth head Nasrudin Hassan lodged a police report at the Chow Kit police station in Kuala Lumpur on the death threat against the party's spiritual leader which appeared on a man's Facebook.

The man said he was even willing to be hanged if he could kill Nik Aziz.

"We are trying to get a remand order on the suspect to facilitate the investigation before he is brought here (Dang Wangi district police headquarters) for interrogation," Zulkarnain said.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication.
