The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today acquitted and discharged 10 people, including two opposition members of parliament and a state assemblyperson of a charge of attending an illegal assembly at the Parliament House compound in 2007.

Judge Fathiyah Idris made the decision after the prosecution, represented by deputy public prosecutor Anslem Charles Fernandis failed to prove a prima facie case against them.

In her judgment, Fathiyah said 13 witnesses had testified that there were members of the public present at the exit road but there was no evidence from any witness which showed that an illegal assembly had taken place.

The 10 individuals were the MP for Titiwangsa, Dr Lo' Lo' Mohamad Ghazali, 53, Kuala Krai MP Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli, 54, Kota Damansara state assemblyman Mohd Nasir Hashim, 63, PAS Youth leader Nasrudin Hassan Tantawi, 40, Wanita PAS head Nuridah Mohd, 49.

Ang Hiok Gak, 53, Mohammad Sabri Sapiai, 44, Hashim Awang, 41, Azira Ariffin, 36, and Mohd Badilah Muda, 35.

They were charged for jointly committing the offence at the Parliament House exit road at 11am on Dec 11, 2007.
