Cops quiz teen key witness for third time

Lin Wen Quan: Since Azamuddin Omar has given a report that is not in tangent with the police statement, the police is now working furiously to confuse and 'turn over' the poor lad's testimony so that they can then thumb their noses and say, "There you are, we acted appropriately."

This is a critical time for truth and justice to prevail. If Azamuddin is not provided with moral support and physical protection by his family and lawyers representing his friend's family, he will literally be ‘gorenged' and will eventually sing the song the police wants him to.

Steven PJ Utara: It looks like the police is trying to drive this poor kid nuts with their good cop-bad cop routine. Or do they just want to make sure the kid changes his statement so that the police emerge right and he comes out wrong about the whole scenario?

Sabahan: Why are they asking this frightened and very young person to return to the police station so many times? Why can't the police question him all at one go? This teen, who merely sat in the car, is a victim and a witness, not even a suspect, much less a criminal!

DILA: I would not be surprised if the kid suddenly 'remembered' the 'correct' version of what happened that night.

Yobama: Police, please stop tormenting this innocent boy. Aren't you guys satisfied yet with what you have done with one dead witness on your hands? And the many others who died in your custody?

The boy is already badly traumatised witnessing the killing of his buddy, who died on his lap on that fateful night. If something bad happens to this boy, this BN government headed by Najib Razak should be held responsible.

Anak Pinang: I don't know how this can be regarded as fair. We have the police who shot a child, and now we also have those police officers' friends questioning the witness. How can the police remain objective in this case? It should be an independent panel's job, and in neutral territory, to get answers (to this tragic incident).

The home minister and IGP (inspector-general of police) should know better than this. Even an adult quakes at the thought of spending time in the interrogation room at the hands of these fellas, what more a child.

Doubt: This incident is no laughing matter, nor political. I have kids at that age, and I have to also remind them, never run away from the police. But we must also ask the police: why shoot when no one was shooting? Why didn't they just chase them until they stop or crash? Only if they come out shooting, then (is there a need to for the police to) shoot.

This boy is a witness to a very serious incident and must be able to tell the same story as often as (needed to) the cops, court and judge. No one must manipulate nor gain from this incident. Political parties, get away from him. Let a top-notch lawyer be with him.

Justgreat: This is clearly harassment by the police on the teen in order to break him. The police are now resorting to thug tactics to intimidate a kid. Have you no shame, PDRM? If you are wrong, you are wrong, admit it like a man and stop being childish just like your IGP.

You are expected to protect the weak and innocent, but instead the PDRM is playing judge, jury and executioner. How many have died under mysterious circumstances involving police shootings. Remember the five Indians 'slained' in a shootout in Perak. After the shooting, one gun was found while police claimed otherwise.

In this case, PDRM claimed there was parang in the car, what happened to the story about the parang now - 'planted evidence'? We wonder how many cases where the police started shooting first, then planted evidence and got away with murder.

D1abolus: Come to think of it, how do we even know that those 'criminals' who die in 'shootouts' with the police are really criminals? We hear about police busting XXX gang in the papers and we take their word for it.

If they are capable of shooting first then planting 'evidence' to support their use of deadly force, who's to say that the dead are who the police claim to be? How many innocents have died this way?

Don't get me wrong; I appreciate lawmen who risk their lives to protect the public, but when they become trigger-happy and start planting evidence, that's very dangerous indeed.

Tkc: It appears that PDRM is "teaching the kid a lesson" for having the audacity to talk to the press. I am sure that this boy is still in shock and wish that it was all a nightmare.

Unfortunately, it is not a nightmare and most probably he has to live with this trauma for the rest of his life and may require therapy. Mr IGP, if you are a human being, please leave Azamuddin alone so that he can start getting his life back together. One life was needlessly lost already. You do not need to drive another one to depression.

You know that you have enough information whether to charge or not to charge your police officers who were involved in the incident, so stop this charade please.

BTN: Common PDRM, he is just a boy who has just went through hell. He had his friend shot and his body slump on him with blood all over. Try to support this kid as much as possible instead of putting him through another hell. He is just a kid, for goodness sake.

Kgen: The composition of the ‘special panel'is a farce as it is headed by the deputy home minister. As the Home Ministry is in charge of the police, he will just try to make the police look good. It's like asking a boss to investigate his employees. The more saintly his employees appear to be, the better it looks on him.

Keturunan Malaysia: I received this humorous email this morning and I thought it rings a bell somewhat (with this issue):

"Due to a power cut, only one paramedic responded to the call. The house was very dark so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a three-year old girl to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby. Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked. Heidi pushed and pushed and after a little while, Connor was born.

"The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry. The paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed three-year-old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.

"The girl quickly responded, ‘He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place... smack his ass again.'"
