your say 'If the corrupted regime is not fearful of him as an effective opposition leader, why waste national resources to parade the private affair of two consenting adults in front of the world (assuming if it is so)?'

Malaysia on trial, Anwar says as sex trial resumes

Cala: The headline that carries the news is in fact an understatement. At trial are not Anwar Ibrahim or his purported 'partner' Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan. At trial are not Malaysians. At trial, more aptly speaking, is humanity.

Let me cover three areas. First, if the corrupted regime is not fearful of him as an effective opposition leader capable of dethroning the Umno-led BN coalition, why waste national resources to parade the private affair of two consenting adults in front of the world (assuming if it is so)?

Second, Sodomy II is rooted in the outcome of Sodomy I, as the latter had failed to nail Anwar Ibrahim on a similar charge.

Third, Anwar is charged under suspicious circumstances, which lead the man on the street to wonder about the real motives behind the case. Factors to consider are:

i) who is the beneficiary if he is put to jail?

ii) If he is not around, who can sleep better considering the results of the March 2008 general elections results?

iii) Who should be nipped in the bud considering the results of the10 by-elections since the March 2008 general elections?

Lionel: The BN government will stubbornly never learn and could not be bothered that it is seen as a laughing stock while it continues to hound AI (Anwar Ibrahim) for no good reason other that it fears what he might expose of their misdemeanours and worse.

Esokhari: Malaysia is an agricultural country. You can plant practically everything, including evidence.

Sodomy II: Saiful to be cross-examined tomorrow

Doubt: Anwar's experts will blow the case right out of the water. I think it is better for the court not to hear the case as this will always hang on his (Anwar's) head. Perhaps it's better to let it get blown out of the water. Also we will be able to see Saiful gets ridiculed and humiliated, like the way he humiliated Anwar.

Kgen: This trial does not comply with international standards of justice. A kangaroo court is a kangaroo court. Don't insult our intelligence by asking the public to accept the biased decision of this kangaroo court.

Ubi Wan Kenobi: For heaven's sake, stop this goddamn ridiculous charade of a nonsensical trial. It can only bring about very negative consequences for Malaysia's credibility as a ‘civilised' nation.

1Malaysia: Believe or not, I think Saiful will become an MP or senator!

400 Chinese apply to join MACC

Ong: If it is true that those applicants said they were thankful to the government for the chance to join the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), then they must be among the most pathetic humans in the world.

They do not even know that as citizens, they have as much right as the self-proclaimed lords of the land - the bumiputras - to apply for such jobs. I am afraid that with their mentality, if they get appointed as MACC officers, they will not know how to carry out their duties with any objectivity.

They will go after innocent non-BN politicians and close their eyes to BN corruption.

Louis: Why thank the government for the chance to serve in MACC? Aren't the Chinese citizens of Malaysia too? Government jobs should be open to all citizens irrespective of race and religious belief. It is long overdue that more government jobs are offered to Chinese and Indian Malaysians.

Chris T: "Several, when approached, said they were thankful to the government...".

This is a bad start with this kind of servile mentality and attitude. Thankful for what and to whom? The government servants who hire you? Your salary comes from our taxes and you are there to do a service to the rakyat.

If you are qualified, do a good and honest job, you don't need to be thankful to anyone. If you are not qualified, get the job and screw up, then the people will curse you. That's what you should be more concerned about.

Aramsa: I hope they do not feel beholden to the government and becomes the tools of Umno/BN but rather, they should be impartial and dare investigate corrupt practices without fear or favour, especially when investigating those sitting on the throne of federal government.

Those who are in Selangor should, as their first assignment after their training, dust off the file of, apa-nama itu , and investigate how and where he got his monies to build his ‘palace'. All politicians who are stained should be investigated.
