A man was charged in the Kota Bharu Magistrate's Court today with causing the death of two female students of a private nursing college who were crushed by a car at the KB Mall Supermarket, here, in December last year.

Mohd Sabri Jusoh, 28, a bird's nest farm operator, was charged with causing the death of Nor Amira Samsuddin, 19, and Siti Nordiana Azman, 18, through negligence at 5.10pm at the supermarket on Dec 6, 2009.

However, no plea was recorded from the accused.

Magistrate Noor Haslinda Che Man allowed the accused bail of RM5,000 with one surety and fixed June 13 for case mention to enable the accused to appoint a lawyer.

Mohd Sabri, from Kampung Gertak Seratus, Kuala Besut, Terengganu was charged under Section 304 of the Penal Code and could be jailed up to two years or fined or both, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Hafiz Abd Rahman appeared for the prosecution.

When asked by reporters on the action of the accused, Mohd Hafiz said the accused was alleged to have pushed a car that had stalled at the parking lot on the upper floor of the supermarket before the vehicle crashed through the safety railing and fell into the supermarket.

In the incident, two students of the Kota Bharu branch of Kolej Masterskill were killed after the Ford Laser car driven by Nor Ain Said, 18, fell on the two victims and Rashidah Ahmad Lutfi, 24, who was then on the escalator of the supermarket.

Siti Nor Amira, from Felda Chiku Tujuh, Gua Musang, died on the spot and Siti Nordiana, from Chabang Empat, Tumpat, died on the way to the hospital while Rashidah sustained serious injury.
