IGP dodges family demand for apology

Justgreat: Inspector-general of police Musa Hassan said, "I don't know about that (Gertak's planned May 13 rally), you have to ask Terengganu (police)."

Don't take all of us for fools, IGP. All application for permits for such gatherings go through the federal police headquarters, and you would definitely have been notified, especially something this big and significant.

Christ: I have two issues here: this rally is organised for the sole purpose of warning the other races, and is definitely not aimed at motivating one particular race. Perhaps you can lie to primary school kids. Just imagine if the other races were to organise a similar rally and say the same things. What would be the reaction?

Hindraf had a similar rally, but their war cry was against the government. They didn't warn or threaten the other races. That is the difference, and it's a huge difference between the two.

As for the police chief to say he has to ask his subordinates to know what is going on is to imply that he either doesn't want to know, or his subordinates do not respect and report to him.

Beetle: The IGP is sleeping on his job. Doesn't this kind of gathering need a police permit? Oh, I forgot. There are two sets of the law - one for the ruling ( semua boleh ) and the other for the opposition ( semua tidak boleh ).

This racist event has been splashed across all the newspapers and this incompetent IGP says he has no knowledge about the event.

Why the double standards?

Controversial May 13 rally postponed

Singgam: The cancellation was appropriate. Let May 13 be a day for truth and reconciliation among all races, a day for harmony and unity instead of a day for sowing hatred. An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.

Lucia: If it is to motivate the Malays, why do it on May 13? Why commemorate a May 13 anniversary with a 'Malays unite' gathering? One can commemorate May 13 in other ways, where everybody gets to join, like that one in Penang called a 'peace and harmony' gathering that was open to all races.

I can't imagine if the Chinese or Indians were to organise a rally to motivate the Chinese/Indians to unite. For sure, the police and Home Ministry would say no. But for the Umno-sanctioned Malay groups, it is okay.

RoseAmongstWiltingThorns: I hope the Terengganu Integrity Institute and Gertak don't get sued for non-payment of banners and buntings ordered from their suppliers by cancelling this event at 11th hour.

PKR's MP Gobala denied entry to S'wak again

Loyal Malaysian: This is the sort of high-handedness of Sarawak's state government that should not be condoned. But, yet they get away with it. Why? Because they have absolute power and the rakyat there have not shown they are against such an arbitrary use of the immigration powers.

Baiyuensheng: On this one, I totally support the Sarawak government. We are just enforcing the rights of Sarawak and drawing the boundary to show the federal government that there are lines you don't cross.

Sarawak already lost a lot of its rights after it joined the federation. Instead of being an equal party to the federation, we are now the same as the states in the peninsular. Viva Sarawak!

Eugene : Enforcing Sarawak's rights is one thing. Using those rights to deny someone's entry without cause is an abuse of power.

Badrul Omar: How can a legitimate elected member of parliament be barred from travelling freely in his own country? If he has broken any law, please charge him in court, not by denying his freedom to move around.

Dr Mahendran Markandoo: If Sarawak is part of Malaysia, than all Malaysians are entitled to enter without having to go through immigration. Unless Sarawak is not part of Malaysia. I hope the Bar Council can check this out so that this particular law can be amended when Pakatan Rakyat is the ruling party.

Ywloh: A percentage of their sales will go towards funding Umno for the 13th general elections. You wouldn't expect them to use their own money, would you? If only Malaysians, and Chinese in particular, have the gumption to completely boycott this stable of companies.

Dood: Where are all the holier-than-thou Umno/BN/Perkasa/Jakim folks? I'm waiting for them to demonstrate in front of the prime minister's office over this "insult to Islam" with a severed, bloody head of a cow and an effigy of Najib to burn.

Surely they should be upset over the approval of more of these 'sinful activities' in an 'Islamic country' such as Malaysia.
