Klang municipal councillor M Suntharajoo denied using a derogatory term but apologised over the row involving the Sun reporter S Tamarai Chelvi.

The incident occurred in court on Monday at Anwar Ibrahim's Sodomy 11 trial in Jalan Duta.

Tamarai claimed that two men used harsh and degrading words at her referring to her skin colour when she was covering the trial.

Suntharajoo maintained that she was rude as she blocked the way for others who were following the sodomy trial.

"I apologise but I didn't say those derogatory terms. I only asked her to move away. She also must learn how to behave in public.

"She is like a daughter to me. I said please move and she was not bothered. Nine other people including a lawyer also complained about her," said the councillor who also attended Anwar's previous trials.

Tamarai lodged a report at the police office of the Jalan Duta court complex the next day.

She also recorded her statement at the Sentul district police station and named Suntharajoo in the report as one of the two men who harassed her.

Anwar Ibrahim has apologised to Tamarai over this incident.
