Having won the Sibu seat in a bitter three way contest yesterday, DAP MP Wong Ho Leng, wasted not time in getting down to business today in by filing in parliamentary questions.

NONE Wong (l eft) said despite being a newly elected representative to the Dewan Rakyat, he would do his best.

"The deadline to file in the oral and written questions in Parliament is 5pm and I will file as many as possible," he said.

"The people can see the questions which I will post later on my blog," he said, adding they ranged from getting an increase in 20 percent in oil royalty for Sarawak and also on the Native Customary Rights Land issue.

All DAP leaders are required by the party to have their own individual blogs.

Wong yesterday won the Sibu by-election by a narrow 398 votes, defeating SUPP/BN candidate Robert Lau Hui Yew and independent Narawi Haron.

Wong polled 18, 845 votes compared to Lau's 18,447 and Narawi's 232 votes.

The results to the by-election were announced close to 11pm, almost two hours after the scheduled time. The Sibu by-election was a keenly contested, as both Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, tried to make the presence felt.

The next seating is scheduled to start on June 7.

Kamalanathan also has questions

Newly elected Hulu Selangor, MP P Kamalanathan said that he had sent in his questions to Parliament at 11am.

NONE However the MIC representative did not divulge the questions, saying they would be known at the next sitting.

Kamalanathan defeated former minister in the Prime Minister Department Zaid Ibrahim in the Hulu Selangor by-election when the MIC candidate polled 24,997 against 23,272 registered by the PKR leader.

Both Kamalanathan and Wong are expected to take their oaths of office in June.
