Kapar MP S Manikavasagam expressed disappointment over Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim's insensitive statement over the red paint attack on his two cars at his home, but hailed PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim's concern over the matter.

NONE Manikavasagam regretted that the MB’s statements yesterday could be construed as a threat.

“The MB was quoted in the media to have said that when you accuse somebody, they too will retaliate and you will have to face the consequences. This may mean that he was happy someone has taken revenge against me.

“It can also mean as an MP, though from the same party, it is not important as long as its cronies are well protected and taken care-off,” he said in his blog posting.

Manikavasagam said he does not anticipate any sympathy from Khalid.

However, the Kapar MP admired Anwar's kind gesture when the opposition leader made a personal call to him inquiring his safety after the incident was reported.

“Anwar asked about my condition and the safety of my family members. That is truly a hallmark of a good and charismatic leader,” he said.

Corruption concerns everyone

NONE Describing yesterday’s incident as serious, Manikavasagam ( right ) said everyone in Selangor must understand that they have a stake in the corruption issue, as it amounts to public money being lost.

The Selangor MB followed with an immediate response, condemning the attacks, describing it as deplorable and wanted the police to investigate the matter and bring the culprits to the book.

“As I have said, those who make such allegations must be brave to face a negative reaction such as being faced with a suit or threat. However, I hope Manikavasagam is able to persevere (through) all this,” he said, adding the state does not condone any forms of criminal intimidation.

He promised to assist the police in their investigation into the matter.

Yesterday it was reported that two of Manikavasagam's cars were splashed with red paint along with a note that threathened his life for alleging corruption in a Selangor-owned sand mining company.

The Kapar MP lodged a police report last week accusing top officials in Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB), owned by Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated, of corrupt practices. The company has since denied the allegations.
