The Kuala Lumpur High Court today allowed Transport Minister Ong Tee Keat to withdraw his application for an injunction to restrain Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Tiong King Sing from further making defamatory statements against him.

Judicial Commissioner Prasad Sandosham Abraham made the order with costs after Ong's counsel, Harjit Sandhu, informed the court that he had received instruction to withdraw the application.

Tiong's counsel, Prem Ramachandran, had no objections.

Ong, who was then the MCA president, filed a RM500 million defamation suit against Tiong, the Bintulu member of parliament, on Aug 24 last year.

He claimed that Tiong had defamed him in an article on the Malaysiakini website on Aug 12, 2009, in which Tiong said he had given Ong RM10 million for MCA activities.

Kuala Dimensi was the turnkey contractor for the Port Klang Free Zone project which is being probed for billing irregularities.

Meanwhile, counsel Ronie Tan, who is also representing Ong, told reporters  that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had confirmed that Ong was cleared after a full investigation and there was no evidence to support the RM10 million allegation.
