Cik Puan Elia Suhana Ahmad, the second wife of the Sultan of Kelantan, claimed today she was denied entry into the Istana

Mahkota in Kubang Kerian to see the ruler despite a Syariah High Court order for her to be allowed to see her husband.

NONE Elia Suhana, 31, had arrived at the palace in a Proton Perdana car followed by a four-wheel-drive vehicle at 12.55pm, accompanied by her sister and two lawyers, Fakhrul Azman Abu Hassan and Roshdan Sujak Raffie.

A man who identified himself as Azahari and claiming to be an aide of the sultan said the ruler had said that he did not want to meet Elia because he had already divorced her.

"Today, we abided by the court order to visit Tuanku Al-Sultan (Tuanku Ismail Petra) as Cik Puan Elia Suhana was entitled to," Fakhrul Azman told reporters.

Last Thursday, the Syariah Appeals Court allowed Elia Suhana to visit the sultan as provided for by the Syariah High Court on Feb 4.

Court allowed visits

Fakhrul Azman said following today's incident, action would be taken to follow up with the court on June 13.

Meanwhile, Elia Suhana, who was attired in a modern blue "baju kurung", expressed surprise at having been denied to see her husband after four attempts following the court order, including twice when the sultan was under treatment in Singapore.

"I am not sure (if the sultan does not want to see me). I would be happy if the Tuanku (sultan) spoke to me (in person). If I could see the sultan, this (episode) will not prolong," she said.

The three-man panel of Appeals Court judges - Chief Syarie Judge Daud Mohamad and judges Nik Hashim Nik Abdul Rahman and Wan Hassan Wan Muhamad - allowed the visits after a review of the affidavits and authority from Elia Suhana and the Raja Perempuan of Kelantan, Tengku Anis Tengku Abdul Hamid.
