A PKR Youth leader has called for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to explain to Parliament how Malaysia has again come to cede land that had long belonged to the country over to Singapore.

pulau batu putih pulau batu puteh 230508 Citing the surrender of the island of Batu Puteh to the country’s southern neighbour two years ago, the wing’s Selangor division wondered whether Najib had betrayed his proclivity to “kneeling” before Singapore.

“We demand that the Prime Minister explain the details of his agreement with Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong so that the people can clearly and properly understand the issue,” said Selangor PKR Youth info chief Mohd Ezli Mashut in a statement today.

“To Selangor PKR Youth, it looks as if the Prime Minister so easily kneels down to the requests of other country in issues pertaining to the rights and sovereignty of this country to the detriment of its future," he added.

It was reported yesterday that Malaysia and Singapore had agreed to relocate a railway station under Malaysia’s KTM Bhd from downtown Singapore to the border with Malaysia.

The station would eventually be relocated within Malaysian territory by 2018 after the establishment of a rapid transit system.

Ezli also said Selangor PKR Youth demands answers to questions surrounding the company known as M-S Pte Ltd which reportedly will be established to take ownership of the vacated area and other parcels of land.

NONE Though 60 per cent of the equity in M-S Pte Ltd would be held by Malaysia's investment arm Khazanah Nasional Bd and 40 per cent by Singapore's Temasek Holdings, Ezli said there may come a time when Temasek would take over the whole of M-S.

He also cited the loss to Singapore of the island of Batu Puteh on May 23, 2008 as well as the surrender of Royal Malaysian Navy barracks in Woodlands on Dec 3, 2007.

“This time, this country is faced with a big loss whose potential in the future cannot be measured and determined at this time,” Ezli said.

“Selangor PKR Youth regards this decision to move KTMB ... as part of Singapore’s plans to ‘evict’ the rights and sovereignty of Malaysia little by little, which will in the future lead to a loss for the country,” Ezli said further.

“The people are not willing to see the country losing as a result of the Prime Minister’s failure ... to decide accurately and in the best interests of the nation,” he added.
