Umno is not involved in the gathering by the so-called Gerakan Anti-Samy Vellu (GAS) at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) on Sunday, Umno executive secretary Abd Rauf Yusoh said today.

Umno did not book the Dewan Merdeka in Putra World Trade Centre as claimed by MIC Youth chief T Mohan, he said when contacted.

Mohan told a media conference before an MIC Youth meeting today that he checked with the PWTC this morning and found that the booking was made by Umno at Dewan Merdeka, between 2pm and 5pm on Sunday.

He said he did not know which level of Umno was involved but "maybe one or two people".

He said police should not give permits for such illegal rally because GAS was not a registered body.

He also gave a warning that MIC members who joined the rally would be referred to the party's disciplinary committee.

Asked if there would be more explusions, he said that if there were "diseased people" planning to destroy the party, that would be the solution.

MIC president S Samy Vellu has so far sacked four members, including central working committee members KP Samy and G Kumar Aamaan, who joined the campaign asking him to quit now instead of eight or nine months before his term expires in May 2012, as stated by him.
