The Selangor government plans to name BN MPs and state assemblypersons who abuse low-cost housing schemes for themselves and their families.

NONE In a statement today, Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim said this move was decided by the State Economic Action Council (MTES) today but did not specify when the list would be out.

Prior to Pakatan Rakyat taking reign of Selangor, the BN administration had adopted a system in which each state assemblyperson would be given a quota to distribute low-cost houses to the deserving.

However, the system was abolished by Khalid's administration.

"The quota system that was practiced all this while has been abolished because there was doubts about the transparency in the system," he said.

Khalid said that the Housing and Property Board (LPHS) will also be vigorously scrutinising the distribution of low-cost houses by state assemblypersons.

Meanwhile, Khalid said civil servants who owned low-cost houses through dubious means will be called for questioning.

"(Errant) civil servants will also have to surrender the houses to the state to be sold to those who are really qualified," he said.

Khalid stressed that this does not mean that the state would bar deserving civil servants from owning low-cost houses.

"The state wants to ensure that the distribution of low-cost houses are done fairly in line with the principles of transparency and accountability which is the focus of this administration," added Khalid.
