Two molotov cocktails (petrol bombs) were hurled at a Klang municipal councillor's house in Jalan Bungur, off Jalan Tengku
Badar, Port Klang early today.
The 12.10am incident left burn marks on the front door of S Selvadurai's house, and his van.
Selvadurai said he had just returned home after visiting a relative and was watching television when he heard glass shattering.
"Upon inspection, I found two glass bottles containing petrol in front of the house.
"Luckily, I managed to put off the fire," he told Bernama.
He believed the attack could be linked to dissatisfaction by some individuals over the action of municipal councillors who rejected their licence applications to operate 24-hour cyber cafes.
Selvadurai, who is Klang DAP deputy chairperson, said he lodged a report on the incident at the Port Klang police headquarters.
Klang police chief ACP Mohamad Mat Yusop confirmed the report.
He said the police believed the petrol bombs were hurled by two men on a motorcycle.
