Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will be paying tribute to former heads of Umno Youth, Wanita Umno and Puteri Umno at the three wings Aidilfitri joint open-house in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, said Umno Youth assistant secretary Megat Firdouz Megat Junid.

He said among the former Umno youth heads to be honoured at the function were the late Hussein Onn, the late Abdul Razak Hussein, the late Saadon Jubir and Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, who once served as the acting head.

Speaking at a joint media conference with with the assistant secretary of Puteri Umno, Nor Azita Abdul Rahman, in Kuala Lumpur today, Megat Firdouz said:

"The tribute will be extended by the Umno president to the former leaders in person or their next-of-kin."

Asked whether the honour would also be given to Anwar Ibrahim, who once led Umno Youth, he said the movement felt that it was quite awkward and not suitable as Anwar was now with the Opposition.

At the same function, the Wanita and Puteri wings will  also be extending tributes to their former leaders.

Meanwhile, Rosni said the open house was the first to be held jointly by the three movements.

It will be held at Dewan Tun Razak, Putra World Trade Centre beginning from 11am until 5pm.

Some 10,000 people are expected to attend it.
