PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said he has evidence that will ‘checkmate' Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

NONE He was responding to Muhyiddin's challenge that he furnish proof of BN involvement in the party's recently concluded divisional polls.

Saifuddin ( left ) said PKR has identified an outsider who caused trouble during the Klang divisional meeting as having ties with BN.

"He is not from PAS, not from DAP and not from PKR, he is from a big party, the biggest in BN."

"I am looking into his name and membership number and when I have everything then I shall checkmate Muhyiddin," said Saifuddin.

However Saifuddin clarified that he initially did not mention the outsiders as Umno members but only outsiders and non-party members.

He said that it was the press and Muhyiddin himself who made the assumption that he spoke of BN involvement in the pattern of disruptions he hinted were orchestrated almost simultaneously in three PKR divisions in Selangor, to cause chaos.

"I am answering his challenge and I shall name the troublemakers we identified from video recordings," said Saifuddin at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya today.

muhyiddin pc 200910 02 Last week Muhyiddin ( right ) challenged Saifuddin to name the outsiders and provide proof if the said saboteurs are members of BN components.

As an appetiser, Saifuddin identified one Razak Halili as among of the outsiders who caused trouble in the Kuala Langat PKR divisional polls.

"He is ex-Umno and joined PKR as member, but left after our losses in the 2004 polls. He may have joined Umno afterwards; the DPM will have to check. I don't know."

"But he did apply again to rejoin PKR but his application was rejected," he said.

Miniscule problems

Saifuddin downplayed the chaos in several PKR divisions as nothing major and something that the party will weather and come out of stronger.

"Problems like these are nothing compared to the issues I am used to as Umno Youth secretary-general. Handling such small problems are easy after what I have been through.

"As for PKR, we have been through worse when Keadilan, as it was known then, merged with PRM. We survived that and grew stronger. So shall we weather this crisis," assured the Machang MP.

Saifuddin said that they actually foresaw the disruptions that may occur during and after party elections but believed that it is part of the growing pangs of the relatively youthful party.

"These are humans, they have feelings, ego and sentiments. It is to be expected. But I believe that time is the greatest healer and it will heal all wounds eventually," he added.

The PKR secretary-general further said that the disruptions and difficulties experienced by the party in the first ever direct polls for a political party in Malaysia, is actually a blessing in disguise.

Headache for EC

"Our members are given a crash course about the elections process as we have tailored our party polls as close to the general elections as possible."

This experience, Saifuddin believes, will turn PKR members into election connoisseurs that will give the Elections Commission a run for their money.

"The EC will have to be on their toes now that we have members who are observant and know the process in detail," he said.
