Only four out of 204 PKR divisions were met with disturbances and will have to be reconvened, said PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution.

The four are among nine PKR divisions whose annual general meetings (AGMs) and polls were suspended and will have to hold their divisional meets and elections again.

"The five divisions whose AGMs were suspended because of technical issues like misprints and lack of ballot papers will hold their meets on Nov 19, 20 and 21 prior to the party congress."

"While the other four which were suspended because of disruptions will hold their polls and meet after the party congress," PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution told a press conference at the party's headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

According the the Machang parliamentarian, the five divisions which will hold its polls before the PKR congress are Kuala Nerus, Jerai, Merbok, Petaling Jaya Selatan and Hulu Selangor.

The other four that will do so afterwards are Klang, Kapar, Kuala Langat and Subang.

Troubles an anomaly

Meanwhile, party elections committee head Dr Molly Cheah played down the troubles experienced by some of the divisions as anomalies within the larger successes experienced in the majority of the party's 204 divisions.

However, Cheah said that the party regards seriously the problems caused by unruly members and will take action against those found to have caused disruptions.

Both Saifuddin and Cheah reminded those with grouses about the recently-concluded divisional polls to come forward through the proper channels and not create a media spectacle.

At the same press conference Saifuddin also voiced PKR's support of PAS and whoever they shall appoint as candidate.

Mobilising for Galas

"We will mobilise for the Galas by elections which will involve the party resources in Pahang, Perak, Kelantan and Terengganu, the four states neighbouring the state seat," he pledged.

Saifuddin explained that the mobilisation will include putting the PKR election machinery into gear, a study of local issues, as well as voters' and constituency profile.

He added that the PKR machinery fresh from their recent divisional elections will be able to use their valuable experience to assist PAS in the by-election.
