“We suspect the BN is behind the demonstration as the former Ipoh Barat PKR division chief, Fauzi Muda, was seen among the group. Can BN own up?,” he said in a statement issued this evening.

Earlier today, Bernama reported that a group of mainly Indian youths claiming to be DAP Youth members staged a demonstration in support of embattled state deputy chief M Kulasegaran.

A group spokesperson, Azman Mubarak, claimed that some 300 DAP members from Buntong were ready to quit the party and follow Kulasegaran, who is also Ipoh Barat MP.

Rumours of factionalism rattled the party since last weekend after Kulasegaran posted a message on social networking site Twitter that he would “announce what is lacking in Perak (DAP) leadership” and “why I have to leave for good”.

Kulasegaran however later clarified his statement, calling off a press conference he was planning to hold last Saturday and issuing an apology over the entire fiasco in a statement he issued while holidaying with his family in Nepal.

Ngeh, who is also Beruas MP and Sitiawan assemblyperson, said Perak DAP will lodge a police report tomorrow against the group for impersonating party members.

“We urge DAP members and the public to stay calm and be wary of the dirty tactics employed by Umno/BN which we have repeatedly witnessed in Penang.

“I call on the people to stay on course with Pakatan in our mission to save the nation from bankruptcy and destruction by changing the government in the coming 13th general election,” he said.
