PKR today denied involvement with the disruption of the press conference of Anwar Ibrahim's former aide, Rahimi Osman in Klang yesterday.

In dismissing the accusation party deputy president Senator Dr Syed Husin Ali described Rahimi's claims in his police report as lies for certain.

He added that the party viewed the incident seriously and the attempt made by several people claiming to be PKR supporters to disrupt the press conference.

"It was reported that they were rowdy and used foul language in disrupting it. This would not help in the on-going slanderous Anwar sodomy trial.

NONE "Let me emphasise that Keadilan has never condoned or directed the actions taken by this people. The person who led the group is not the party's vice-president nor Anwar's aide as reported by some media," Syed Husin ( right) said.

For the record, Malaysiakini reported the group was led by PKR vice-president aspirant K Suresh Kumar.

Yesterday he had defended the action, saying Rahimi could have announced something negative as he was close to Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan who has accused PKR de facto leader Anwar of allegedly sodomising him which had resulted in the ongoing trial.

Syed Husin added that further details as to what Rahimi had claimed would be explained at a press conference to be held later today.

"However, we are of the view that Rahimi had lied in his police report in saying that he was forced to make the statutory declarations," he said.

Rahimi claims he was forced to sign

NONE Rahimi ( left ) at a press conference yesterday, held after lodging the police report, had claimed that he was forced by lawyer Latheefa Koya, the current PKR information chief, to sign the statutory declarations at the Quality Hotel, Shah Alam.

According to Rahimi's lawyer S Ravi Chandran, the police report was to state that the two earlier statutory declarations were inaccurate.

The declarations were in relation to Anwar's trial.

"I was forced to sign two declarations in June 2008 about Anwar," Rahimi had said.

Meanwhile, Latheefa and Anwar's lawyer Sankara Nair had strongly denied that Rahimi signed the documents under duress.

NONE Latheefa, in response , had said that Rahimi was a potential witness in Anwar's sodomy case, and as part of the defence team, they were merely preparing statements for potential witnesses.

Sankara had also raised the question why Rahimi had only raised the matter almost three years later.

Latheefa is scheduled to hold a press conference this afternoon to explain the matter.
