The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has asked the Kedah government or any quarters with information on the alleged irregularities concerning the water issue in the state to lodge a report.

Kedah MACC director Idrus Jaafar said without complete information, the MACC could not probe further into the allegation as the Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak's statement on the matter was made in general.

He said the MACC would definitely take follow-up action following the statement, but it would need specific information to enable further action to be taken.

"We get information from various sources including the media, but if there is a report made on this issue, it will be much easier. So far, we haven't received any official information from anyone about the issue," he told reporters at his office Alor Setar today.

penang kedah timber logging azizan abdul razak 310708 02 Yesterday, Azizan told a press conference that he had observed many irregularities concerning the water issue during the BN administration in the state and that every allegation was based on facts and records, but he would leave it to the MACC to investigate it.

Azizan said it was not his job to lodge a report to the MACC, but anybody could do so as he had already made a disclosure on the irregularities.

Prior to this, Kedah Umno liaison committee secretary Nawawi Ahmad was also reported as saying that Kedah BN was not afraid of the threat made by the menteri besar to expose the irregularities in the water issue that allegedly occurred during the BN administration in Kedah and even told the menteri besar to lodge a report at the MACC.

Idrus said he believed that if the relevant parties were willing to expose the issue, they probably had complete information to provide and cooperate with the MACC.

He said complete information was vital to determine whether the offence was related to corruption and under the MACC's jurisdiction.

"If the offence is not under our jurisdiction, the investigation should be carried out by other relevant authorities," he said.
