Programmes are carried out by the Orang Asli Affairs Department to register the Orang Asli as voters, Rural and Regional Development Ministry secretary-general Abd Jabar Che Nai said.

He said there were still about 31,900 Orang Asli in the country who had yet to register as voters.

Most of them were in Perak and Pahang, he told reporters at a function with the Orang Asli community and JHEOA retirees at the Orang Asli Museum in Gombak today.

However, he said since the programme was carried out, some 26,560 Orang Asli had registered as voters until Sept this year.
