The MCA annual general meeting delegates today rejected the proposed amendments to two articles and its sub-articles of the party constitution, after it failed to garner two-third majority votes needed for the amendments.

The rejection crushed the MCA Youth's plan to give its members a bigger role and representation to the party's annual general assembly.

Announcing the result at the MCA 57th General Assembly at Wisma MCA here, speaker Yik Phooi Hong said only 671 or 63 per cent of the 1,064 delegates who voted, agreed to amend the articles and sub-articles, while 392 others opposed and there was one spoilt vote.

The proposed amendments to article 67 and sub-article 67.7 and Article 94 and sub-article 94.7 were to allow a member of the MCA Youth from every branch and division to attend the general assembly, where currently only the Wanita wing was allowed to do so.
