Rep from school lends support to teen's family

A representative from the late Aminulrasyid Amzah’s school SMK Seksyen 11 was present in court to lend emotional support to the victim’s family.

While Aminulrasyid’s mother keeps mum when asked by reporters to comment on today’s proceedings, Monalisa Mukhtar, a close family friend and representative from the school, was present to lend emotional support.

Monalisa said what happened to Aminulrasyid was truly unfortunate and the school was here to help the family.

She said she is close to Aminulrasyid’s family as the victim’s sister is her friend.

“I truly felt the police went overboard, resulting in the death of Aminulrasyid.

“I stay near their home and had heard the shots fired. I was surprised to find out later in the morning that the victim was Aminulrasyid.”

Monalisa said there were questionable injuries on  Aminulrasyid, as his brother-in-law had complained of seeing an injury on the knee of the deceased.

“Was he assaulted (by the police) and then shot? Whatever it is, I hope there is justice,” she said.

Monalisa said firing several rounds of bullets at the Iswara car driven by Aminulrasyid was totally unwarranted.

In fact, she said it was fortunate that Aminulrasyid’s friend Mohd Azamuddin Omar ( left ) is still alive despite being shot and assaulted by the police.

Monalisa believes that Aminulrasyid may have decided to speed off and not stop in order to save Azamuddin.

Azamuddin’s father is a police sergeant.

“I believe that is the fatal price that the boy (Aminulrasyid) had to pay for trying to save Azamuddin.

“They were merely out having late supper,” Monalisa, said adding she also still do not believe the parang found in the Iswara belonged to the occupants as this was a family car.

63 witnesses on list

The 15-year-old Azamuddin is listed as one of the prosecution witnesses.

Although Azamuddin was present today, it remains uncertain when he will take the stand.

The prosecution led by Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar ( left in pic ) told reporters that they had listed 63 witnesses.

A check of the witness list provided showed that about 45 of them are police officers.

Dusuki said not all of them will be called as the prosecution may only call 30 witnesses.

He told reporters that the prosecution may tomorrow call some of Aminulrasyid’s neighbours, who may have heard the shootings.

A total of 17 spent bullets from the MP 5 weapon used by the police, were found in the area from the Bulatan Kayangan roundabout to the scene where Aminulrasyid was found dead.

‘Questionable practice by forensics’

The afternoon’s proceedings were an uninteresting affair with two police storekeepers, Sergeant Mohd Hanafi Md Yatim and Lance Corporal Jamaluddin Bashir, taking the stand.

The two mainly testified on the storage of the case items, along with the MP 5 submachine gun which was kept in the Shah Alam police district armoury.

However, what is interesting from today’s proceedings is the questionable action by the forensic police.

These follows testimony from one of the police photographers that when he arrived at the scene sometime about 3am on April 26, he noticed the evidence were not tagged with numbers and despite this, he was asked to take photographs of the items.

Another witness also told the court that he took photographs of the 17 spent bullets and two live bullets fired from the police weapon on two occasions, namely 11am and 3pm on April 28.

That was two days after the incident, as Aminulrasyid was found dead sometime at 2am on April 26.
