Deputy Finance Minister Dr Awang Adek Hussin has denied allegations that Kelantan was sidelined in the 2011 Budget.

He said on the contrary, Kelantan received the biggest chunk of the RM696 million allocation for religious schools, agricultural subsidies and rural road projects in the peninsular.

Member of Parliament for Tumpat Kamarudin Jaafar claimed that Kelantan was not allocated funds to build rural roads, expressways, jetties, an airport and railway tracks in the 2011 budget.

Awang Adek, who is also Bachok Umno division head, said funds for the construction of expressways in Kelantan may be included in the Tenth Malaysia Plan (10MP).

"Kamarudin was confused and did not understand that projects under Budget 2011 are meant to be implemented within one year while the 10MP is a five-year plan," said Awang Adek.
