An aide to the Kuala Nerang assemblyperson has refuted a report by a news portal that Syed Sobri Syed Hashim has been declared a bankrupt.
Sobri Sudin said the assemblyperson was still servicing his company's loan since 2002.
He told a news conference in Alor Setar that the report of Syed Sobri's bankruptcy was an attempt to tarnish his name and topple him in a by-election.
He also said that Syed Sobri did not attend a High Court proceeding in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 15 where he was purportedly declared bankrupt as reported by The Malaysian Insider .
