Leaders should utilise computers and the new media to strengthen ties with society and to explain the party's struggle to the people.

Information Communication and Culture Minister Dr Rais Yatim said said leaders need to use computers comprehensively as technology development made the typewriter unsuitable.

"Leaders must at least use computers and be familiar with Facebook or Twitter. They must be capable of utilising the new media.

NONE "The Umno president wants the people to utilise ICT and my ministry can help leaders get closer to society," he said when commenting the winding-up speech by Najib Razak at Umno general assembly today.

Rais who is also Umno supreme council member said the prime minister showed commitment to create a strong system to face the general election.

"I expect changes to happen in the states and divisions. The Malays are banking on this promise and commitment that will bring about restructuring," he added.
