The Umno Youth movement today gave an assurance that there will be no more acts of sabotage during the campaign for the by-election for the Galas state constituency.

NONE Its head, Khairy Jamaluddin ( left ) said such culture, which was frequently associated with Kelantan Umno, should be discarded immediately because it was capable of tarnishing the image of the party and the BN.

"I received an assurance from Gua Musang Youth head Bazlan Baharuddin that the Youth movement would support whoever is representing the BN for the by-election this time and does not want the sabotage culture to be practised," he told reporters at the launching of a Public Housing Project in Gua Musang today.

The Galas by-election is slotted for Nov 4 following the death of its incumbent from Pas, Chek Hashim Sulaima, 46, on Sept 27.

Gua Musang Umno division secretary Abdul Aziz Yusof, 49, has been selected as the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in the by-election.

Meanwhile, he said the Youth movement would mobilise its machinery more actively to woo the young voters by focussing on local issues instead of using personal attacks on the opposition candidate.
