Federal gov't announces housing project in Kelantan

Yobama: The BN is at it again! Bribing the people of Kelantan into voting them in the 'buy-election'. They never learn their lesson. The old thinking is still intact - that the people can be bought with 'goodies' at every by-election. How poorly they view the people. They think money can buy anybody, just because they can be bought with money.

Oh, people of Gua Musang, do not trust the 'musang berbulu ayam' (wolf in sheep clothes) in your midst. I pity Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah who has to be there and give 'blessing' to this political bribery.

Neders: Give us our oil money and we will develop a much, much larger housing project for the people of Kelantan. Bloody robbers and thieves are using our money and giving a pittance as wang ehsan . Ku Li, are you Kelantanese first and Umno second, or is it the other way round?

Wira: Those rent-seekers and cronies must be overjoyed by Muhyiddin Yassin's announcement, coming so soon after the Umno general assembly. Return the oil money to Kelantan and let the state build those houses, according to the wishes of the rakyat of that state.

CarL: Well, the people of Kelantan who will get the 1,500 flats will be overjoyed and happy to have a roof over their heads. They could not care what anybody thinks - you critics have got your own roofs over your head, so why complain?

Good on you, Muhyiddin, more housing in Kelantan and let the poorly-built houses of straw a thing of the past. Monsoons ravage them most of the time. At least, this is being spent on the folk of Kelantan - they deserve it immediately, no matter who rules. PAS has fed them religion, and that's great, but they need more than this.

Call me Jibby: Another buy-election and early signs of snap general elections. Umno has denied the state oil royalty and is reluctant to initiate any developments in Kelantan for almost two decades.

Tok Janggut: What about donating RM1 million to Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat so that he can build a nice house. It will not be as nice as the ex-Selangor MB's house, but at least it will be a nice bungalow.

He deserves it considering he is the MB of Kelantan. Maybe then, some of the PAS supporters will jump ship and vote for BN.

Election war drums keep Umno delegates in check

Swipenter: My take is that all the non-Malay bashing is being outsourced to Perkasa so it is not imperative for the attendees to give fire and brimstone speeches regarding Malay rights and non-Malay treachery. The coming 13th general elections may also play a part so they have to give a little face to MCA, MIC and Gerakan.

But on the ground, those who voted for Pakatan Rakyat will still vote Pakatan, but not all those who voted for BN will still stick with them.

Steven For Malaysia: Letting BN to implement 40 years of a biased New Economic Policy (NEP) is still no proof of helping the Malays? The Umno delegate who blamed the non-Malays for not helping the Malays to achieve the 30 percent NEP target must be a fool.

It is the Umno Malays who cheated the poor Malays, and they still insist they want some more?

Tok Janggut: This year's Umno assembly is less fiery and less racist because Umno is desperate to win GE13. They are indirectly telling the non-Malays that they are not racist anymore.

But wait and see - if they win the GE13, they will become worse. If they do not have enough seats to form the government, I bet they will even invite Perkasa to be in the government.

Anonymous: Umno is very wrong if they think they can win back votes just by toning down their racist slurs or talking of inclusiveness. All talk without walk will result in more migration of votes to Pakatan.

They even admitted many of them are not original Malays to prove that Umno is inclusive. If Umno is actually inclusive, can they admit non-Muslim Malaysians as their members?

Yobama: Leadership reshuffle like how? Change state liaison chairmen, appoint new supreme council members, sack some old ones who were appointed earlier? How is that kind reshuffle going to change people's perception of Umno as a just party to rule another 50 years?

These cosmetic changes will do nothing to alleviate the people's fears of continued oppression of the down-trodden, the poor of all races. What is needed is complete overhaul of the mindset of the leaders that control the centre.

As long as they continue to view Umno as merely a vehicle to enrich themselves and their 'suku sakat' for the next five years, they will not convince Malaysians to vote for them again, save the hardcore supporters, who are a dying breed, literally.

Unless they show by action that they are serious in fighting graft, in having accountability and transparency, in projecting a clean electoral process, in cleaning up the police force, the judiciary, the Attorney-General's office, in calling off the Sodomy II trial, the people will not be convinced.
