Despite persistent character attacks against their candidate for Galas Dr Zulkefli Mohamad, PAS will continue to stand behind their man.

"That is our candidate, we have already announced it. Why should we change?" said PAS spiritual advisor Nik Aziz Nik Mat when approached by reporters after officiating the state agricultural fair at the Gua Musang civic centre field this evening.

NONE "No such thing. We will continue to field Dr Zulkefli ( left )," said central PAS information chief Idris Ahmad when contacted by Malaysiakini , echoing Nik Aziz's stand.

On the eve of nomination day for the Galas by-election, Umno propagandists continued their assault on the character of PAS candidate Dr Zulkifli.

This time it is in the form of allegations that central PAS youth is against the choice of Dr Zulkefli and is calling for the Islamic party to change its Galas candidate.

Malaysiakini was shown a text message by a person believed to be an Umno insider, supposedly from a PAS member.

It said that recent allegations that the Islamic party's candidate was involved in khalwat caused its youth movement to protest his candidacy.

"A delegation is coming from central PAS youth to convey their protest. He (Dr Zulkefli) has denied the allegations. But we have documentation and we will reveal them," the insider further revealed.

However, PAS youth chief Nasruddin Tantawi when met at the Pemuda Kelantan information HQ, denied the allegations that PAS youth has spoken out against Dr Zukefli as candidate.

He said it was just Umno propaganda.

"I have already said in my statement after the nomination day that central PAS youth stand behind Dr Zulkefli," said Tantawi.
