Weak gov't will destroy S'wak: Taib Mahmud
All development in Sarawak will be destroyed if the people elected a weak government, said Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud.
All development in Sarawak will be destroyed if the people elected a weak government, said Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud.
He said what happened in other countries showed that governments which sought to satisfy the needs of all parties would eventually destroy the country.
"The moment you get a government that is led by the nose, you're going to wreck your own country," he said when opening a seminar for community leaders in Miri today.
Taib said failure by Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain to handle pressure from the people had put the countries in economic turmoil.
Similarly, failure by oppposition ruled state governments to meet their election pledges had put them in a difficult position.
"Now they know how hard it is to govern. In Sarawak, we only promise what we can deliver," he said.
