With the Malaysia Cup final atmosphere reaching fever pitch, irresponsible elements are trying to cash in by peddling fake tickets to fans.
FA of Malaysia (FAM) president Sultan Ahmad Shah said he was dissapointed that this phenomenon was rearing its ugly head again.
"I was informed by the FA of Kelantan (Kafa) that fake tickets were making the rounds in Kota Bharu today," he told a press conference after chairing FAM's pre-final meeting in Kuala Lumpur today.
He urged fans to be wary about purchasing fake tickets as they would not be able to gain entry to witness tomorrow's final between Kelantan and Negeri Sembilan at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
Meanwhile, FAM vice president Hamidin Mohd Amin, who is also the chairperson of FAM's local competitions committee, said its staff manning entrances to the stadium tomorrow would be equipped with ultra-violet ray scanners to weed out the fake tickets.
He said fans could check the authencity of their tickets with Kafa or the Negeri Sembilan FA.
He also said security would be beefed up for the final to ensure there were no untoward incidents.
According to him, 60,000 tickets had been sold in Kota Bharu and Seremban so far and there were still many requests for tickets both in Kelantan and Negeri Sembilan.
"We have also reserved 14,000 tickets for fans in the Klang Valley. They will be on sale from 9am tomorrow at ticket counters at the National Stadium, limited to four tickets per person," he said.
Tomorrow's clash is a repeat of last year's. Negeri Sembilan were the winners last year and Kelantan, dubbed the Red Warriors, appear hell bent on snatching victory this time around.
