Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ismail Omar today announced a restructuring that involves the promotion and transfer of state police chiefs and their deputies in several contingents.

NONE The immediate appointments involve Penang Deputy State Police Chief Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah ( right ) who succeeds Khalid Abu Bakar as the Selangor State Police Chief, and Pahang Deputy State Police Chief Sharifuddin Abd Ghani who succeeds Robiah Abdul Ghani as the Pahang Police Chief.

Ismail also announced that the Deputy Director of Service/ Establishment Management, Ahmad Ibrahim is the new Kedah Police Chief, succeeding Syed Ismail Syed Azizan.

Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner Hamzah Taib succeeds Noor Rashid Ibrahim as the Sabah Police Commissioner.

NONE The reshuffle also involves the Kuala Lumpur contingent when the Perak Police Chief, Zulkifli Abdullah ( left ) is appointed Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, succeeding Muhammad Sabtu Osman; while the Commandant of the Police Training Centre (Pulapol), Amar Singh Ishar Singh becomes Deputy Chief of Kuala Lumpur Police, succeeding Abdul Samah Mat.

Ismail said the reshuffle was an extension of the decision to appoint four Department Directors announced on Oct 13.

“The appointment of these officers was made taking into account all aspects including their experience, capability, capacity and credibility. I am convinced that they are capable of discharging their responsibilities and ensuring continuity of the new era towards empowering the police force,” he told reporters after a meeting of the Police Force Commission at Bukit Aman in Kuala Lumpur today.

 

The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

Upgraded to Jusa A

Meanwhile, the IGP also said that three Department Directors have also been upgraded to Jusa A, namely the Special Branch Director, Akhil Bulat, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Director Mohd Bakri Mohd Zinin and the Director of Internal Security and Public Order Khalid Abu Bakar.

Ismail said the meeting today also confirmed the acting posts held by 53 senior police officers holding the ranks of Superintendents (Supt) up to Deputy Police Commissioners (DCP).

    

“The names of other officers who have not been listed today for the purpose of promotion and transfers will be announced in mid-November when the Police Force Commission is scheduled to meet again,” he said.

On Oct 13, Ismail announced that former Selangor Police Chief Khalid Abu Bakar was appointed as the Director of Internal Security and Public Order Bukit Aman, former Pahang Police Chief Robiah Abdul Ghani as the Director of Management Bukit Aman, former Sabah Police Commissioner Noor Rashid Ibrahim as the Director of Narcotics CID Bukit Aman, and former Kedah Police Chief Syed Ismail Syed Azizan as the Director of Commercial CID.
