Petestop: For once, Umno gets a taste of how it is to be in the opposition. But too bad the police did not use the same overzealous tactics on these goons, otherwise, the people would be sprayed, dragged, beaten and arrested and including their lawyers.

Where is the FRU and the water cannon and tear gas? How come nobody is charged under the Sedition Act and what not?

Fido Dido: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is not so easily intimidated by these Umno hooligans. He has important task to fulfil and to bring development to the Penangites.

The police owe all Malaysians an answer as to why they allowed this illegal gathering. They were unruly and threatening the peace, whereas candlelight vigils are threatened with water cannons and arrests. They were peaceful, and this Umno group was not.

Ade: The more you guys try to ‘kacau' (disturb) the state government, the stronger the DAP-led government will be. It's so stupid to think that people can't see through your ill-motives.

It is as if land acquisition for development is only being carried out now. What about during the Umno-controlled BN state government's time? How come there was not even a whimper even though land was stolen by them then?

Rakyat Malaysia: "Jangan cuba memperbodohkan orang kampung?" (Don't treat the villagers as stupid)

Who is the real one ‘memperbodohkan orang kampung'? Go tell BN-Umno, who is the one ‘memperbodohkan orang kampung' for 50 years.

You're still becoming more and more ‘bodoh', voting Umno for 50 years while Umno people become super rich and the poor continue to eat peanuts, waiting for the country to go bankrupt.

Loyal Malaysian: Not that I condone the use of the police for political suppression of the opposition, but the fact is that in Galas, just having a walkaround handing out pamphlets got Teoh Beng Hock's sister and three others arrested .

The police must show themselves to be professional in the discharge of their duties and not be seen to be serving only the Umnoputras.

Focus: I am sure if the Pakatan Rakyat Penang government wants to counter this protest organised by the opposition parties, it could do it noisier and in greater numbers. But it won't because Pakatan is more mature.

But these opposition protesters who are financed or paid must not underestimate the silent majority who are pro-Pakatan. To these opposition protesters, beware of waking up the silent majority.

Anonymous: The Penang opposition have to make some noisy protest so that the state government won't look so rosy after the results of the revenues are out.

But these handful of people who protested have their own agenda. Overall, Penangites are happy with the state government. This is just a show of noisy fireworks but it won't last.

Passing Cloud: This protest came a day after Penang Umno chief troublemaker Azhar Ibrahim was suspended six months (for alleged sedition) by the Penang state assembly yesterday. The police should probe and rule out instigations headed by Azhar and gang.

Wira: If this group of Umno protesters do not want the state government to acquire the land for "business of the state government", they should protest in Parliament for the repeal the Land Acquisition Act to exclude the use of land for state business as a reason for acquisition.

Adha: Kalau nak jumpa Ketua Menteri Lim Guan Eng in peace, bertamaddun lah sikit. Bukan macam samseng ala Umno. Kalau nak bantah pun, ada adab-adab. Sampai nak gegar-gegar pintu gate buat apa? Semua ini mirip-mirip propaganda BN aje, lah. Yang datang semua pakai cap dengan songkok, jadi kita tahu dari pihak mana puak-puak ini.

Singa Pura Pura: You're most welcome to demonstrate, Umnorians or otherwise. Scream your lungs out, gurgle phlegm and blood. There is nothing wrong with protesting - as long as violence is not used, property is not damaged, and no member of the public is injured or threatened.

We should have done this when Umno and its proxies ruled Penang in the last 40 sad years. We were not allowed to, not in Umno's Penang.

Ah Hoe: In this incident, the police has done the right thing, but this was probably deliberate and hands-off due to it being an Umno crowd. The rakyat should always be allowed to protest provided the protests are conducted in a peaceful, non-threatening and non-violent manner.

And I agree that protestors should not involve shouts of ‘Allahu Akbar!' because it is blasphemous to use God's name for selfish political gains.

Ben: This is one of Umno's underhand dirty tactics. Umno knows very well the proposed university is for the good of the Penang people regardless of race and creed. Yet, they instigate this group of hooligans to turn it into a big issue. Umno is well-known as being the snatchers of Orang Asli lands for the past half-century, be it in East or West Malaysia.

Lurun Hazzi Wah: Penang Umno Youth chief Norman Dhalan is a joker. He collected or was handed over a sum of money of RM23,700 and he didn't count it? Even being responsible for that money he couldn't even do? So how does he know the money handed to him is correct?

What sort of accountability does Umno practise or teach? Only RM23,700 and there is no controls on it? No wonder Umno can spend billions without accountability and transparency.

Gandhi: Guan Eng should collect all the money that was returned by the Penang Umno Youth chief and give it as hampers to all the orphanages and old folks' homes. This is more worthy and charitable than giving to people who insult the money given to them in good faith.
