The 39th Gerakan national delegates conference today passed 18 declarations covering the party, politics, economy, social and the society.

The declarations tabled by speaker Dr Chin Fook Weng were unanimously passed by 1,360 delegates at Menara PGRM here today.

They include supporting calls that the federal constitution be interpreted and understood inclusively and comprehensively, respected and defended by Malaysians.

gerakan life member council congress 061110 lim keng yaik Delegates also fully supported the 1Malaysia concept which should be expanded, instituted, realised and used as guideline in government policies and programmes to strengthen unity and national integration.

They also wanted the Rukun Negara be strengthened, recognised and reaffirmed.

The delegates also rejected extremist politics and supported moderation, cooperation and consensus as championed by the nation's founders.

BN was urged to become more inclusive and strengthen the spirit of equality and cooperation agreed during its formation in 1974.

Others include revitalising the party, making pragmatic and non-racial solutions, supporting social justice and calling for review of the Internal Security Act (ISA).
