KSN: You did the right thing, Zaid Ibrahim. PKR has proved that it is incapable of even conducting party elections fairly, and probably does not realise how much damage it has caused to itself and the other Pakatan Rakyat partners, DAP and PAS. The general public has lost confidence in PKR to a large extent and it will find it extremely difficult to redeem itself.

PKR talks about social justice and fair play, but has been tainted by the elections. How does it expect the people to place their trust in PKR in governing the country. It would be wise for DAP and PAS to disassociate from PKR for their own good.

Zaid, you do not have to be in any party to articulate your views about nation-building. You can do that as a free man or even through an NGO - away from BN and PKR.

All those adverse things said about the way PKR went about with its elections cannot be untrue, and the denials were immature. When you try to cover up something, it will fall apart like lies. Only truth is unchangeable.

Chris: You're a typical sole loser. Your mistake is in contesting the deputy president post knowing very well you will lose. The next battlefield is in Selangor, so there is no way you can catch up.

With the help of blogger Haris Ibrahim, you can then find an excuse to withdraw. What a low-class and low-quality leader. You depend on Jeffrey Kitingan to deliver in Sabah, but he failed, so I suppose this is the best option to save face.

Oranje: Zaid Ibrahim, just get out the party and form a third force. Many talk about it but do not have the guts to do it.

Multi Racial: Zaid's withdrawal is good. If one believes there is strong evidence of fraud, one should not participate in elections. It is not just Zaid, but others including Raja Petra Kamarudin, have exposed many wrongdoings during the elections.

I still have faith in Pakatan, DAP and PAS. But when it comes to PKR, I would be selective with their candidates. They better clean up their act in terms of the candidates whom we believe do not have credibility.

Yong Lee Yuen: Zaid, you have shared your thoughts and values. I agreed with and appreciate them very much. You do what you can to serve. Whatever position you hold is not important. You will be serving the country and God. Serve humbly and let people choose you for who you are.

Azmin Ali, all that we know of you is that you have served loyally under Anwar Ibrahim, but we have not heard personally from you. We don't know you and whether you have the qualities to be No 2. You should be honest on whether you can fill the post. If not, give way to others who can.

Ashoka: Azmin is a dark horse. The only good that the general public has heard of him is his loyalty to Anwar, full stop. Yes, PKR guys will say he has worked hard for the party, but what is required of a leader is more than that. We need to pick his brains. He has to vocalise his opinions, thoughts and ambitions for the nation. Just being loyal to Anwar is not sufficient.

Anwar is a mortal. After that, Azmin's loyalty is worth nothing. We need to know what he aspires for the nation. Come next election, my vote will go to either DAP or PAS. As for PKR, I will take a good look at the situation before I decide.

Anwar: Zaid's decision could be due to Sabah losses

Ah Hoe: PKR will continue to play a very important and relevant role in Malaysian politics only if its members resolve to rid the party of old Umno practice. But they cannot rely on Anwar or Azmin to do that.

Concerned Citizen: PKR is nothing more than a vehicle for Anwar and Azmin. Those who ride on the PKR vehicle must know and understand that. Anything and everything will be done to serve and conserve this fact and anyone who is against it shall be punished one way or the other.

Monsterball: It looks like Anwar is trying to pull strings from all sides when he said Zaid still has a role to play in his party. His party will never be normal nor strong if he keep on thinking or managing it this way. And that worries Malaysians - to see he is either a man with no clear vision or a man who smartly uses people by offering sweet nothings.

Either way, he is not a man in good standing or character to be our next PM. He is so used to the dirty politics in Umno with people joining PKR for selfish reasons.

Maitreya: It's not an easy time for Anwar, but when I remember what he has been through and how he has come to symbolise our aspirations for participatory democracy and an end to corrupt misrule, cruelty and injustice, my support for him remains steadfast.

When Anwar becomes PM he will have to swiftly repeal all archaic, oppressive laws and completely overhaul the judiciary, law enforcement agencies and the civil service.

Once that is achieved, it really won't matter who manages the country because the mechanism will be working again - and anyone who begins to stink like a turd will be flushed down the toilet.
