New Straits Times, The Star and theSun all frontpaged the decision of former PKR Federal Territory chief Zaid Ibrahim to withdraw from the contest for the party’s deputy-president post and resignation from all other party posts.

New Straits Times, in addition, headlined Bursa Malaysia’s record benchmark surge, while theSun also frontpaged the offer to three former Port Klang Authority officials of 26 alternative charges.

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian and Sinar Harian also led with the PKR debacle over Zaid’s withdrawal from the party’s No 2 contest and resignation from party posts.

Berita Harian further highlighted PKR deputy-president aspirant Mustaffa Kamil Ayub’s call for the party to nullify the party elections and hold a new round of polls due to alleged irregularities.

Utusan urged PAS to reconsider its alliance with PKR and DAP, given the latter parties’ cynical use of the Islamist party’s members and leaders for purely political purposes.
