Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Yahya Hussin has urged the public not to jump the gun when condemning the police.

He said the public should make it a culture to understand the work and sacrifices of the policeman, and cooperate with the men in blue to discharge their duties.

“We (the public) worry about the safety of our home, family and property when we leave them, and look to the police to provide security.

“Yet, we are quick to condemn when some of them did not live up to their responsibilities... we don’t (seem to) appreciate the good they (policemen) have done.

"Make it a culture to understand, assist and cooperate with the police... otherwise, the police will find it difficult to carry out their duties to our expectations,” noted Yahya.

He said this in a brief ceremony at the state police contingent mosque in Kota Kinabalu during which he donated a cow for slaughter, in conjunction with Hari Raya Haji.

Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Syed Ahmad Syed Hassan received the animal from Yahya on behalf of the Sabah police commissioner.
