No new arowana farms in Bukit Merah
Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Noh Omar said the Perak government cannot open new arowana fish farms.
Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Noh Omar said the Perak government cannot open new arowana fish farms.
"The fish farm project remains as the site has been gazetted," he said commenting the Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) call that the ministry cancel the arowana project involving 70 farmers in Bukit Merah.
CAP claimed that the decade old project had adversely affected padi growing areas and wanted the areas reconverted into padi fields.
Noh was speaking to reporters after observing preparation for the Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (MAHA 2010) in Serdang today.
Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is expected to open MAHA 2010 on Nov 27.
