Although cinta means 'love' in the Malay language, the Youth chief of a political entity that carries the word in its name recently received threatening calls from an unidentified man.

The man, who spoke in Mandarin and identified himself only as “Teoh”, demanded that Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) Youth chief Liew Yeow Hooi change the name of his party.

This prompted Liew ( left ) to lodge a report yesterday at the Jalan Pattani police station in Penang as he fears for the safety of those who are close to him.

Liew, who held a press conference in Air Itam today, said Teoh called twice yesterday, at 10am and 2.30pm, warning Liew not to disobey orders from the Penang government.

“During the second call at 2.30pm, he asked if I had changed the name, to which I replied that I will never ever do it,” said Liew.

The caller then warned that PCM members and Liew's family will be hurt if he refuses to follow orders.

Liew said he had asked Teoh to reveal if he is a DAP member, or if he belongs to any other party.

“At first, Teoh refused to do so (reveal) but finally admitted that he is a DAP supporter; I suspect someone is behind this man."

Liew said he had earlier planned to lodge a report against Komtar assemblyperson Ng Wei Aik, as the latter had accused PCM of being involved in violent demonstrations alongside Umno.

However, the protestor who climbed the gate and shook it vigorously during the rally on Nov 2 outside the state legislature assembly was proven to be a former PAS member .

When contacted, Ng ( right ) brushed aside the issue and declined to comment.

“This has nothing to do with me or the DAP,” he added.
