Jais entitled to bar Mohd Nizar from giving ceramah
The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has the right to prevent the MP for Bukit Gantang, Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, from giving a ceramah at Masjid Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh, because he was not accredited by the department, said Perak PAS commissioner Abu Bakar Hussain.
He said Jais had the right to prevent politicians or teachers who did not get accreditation from the department from giving a ceramah.
"However, from the aspect of democracy, it clearly shows injustice to the people because they need knowledge from time to time. The people now are wise in assessing what is good and bad.
"Thus, they (the people) can accept or reject all the contents conveyed by the speaker according to their own thinking," he told reporters at the Perak PAS headquarters in Ipoh today.
Yesterday, Jais asked the administrator of the mosque to cancel the religious ceramah programme involving Mohammad Nizar ( right ), who is also Perak PAS deputy commissioner, tonight as he did not get accreditation from the department.
Its director, Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi, asked the party concerned to change the venue to another location which was not bound by the terms of the accreditation set by Jais if it wanted to proceed with the programme.
